Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox do not open. IE's Shell will open then vanish in seconds and not respond thereafter. Firefox will start, then display a message saying that it has crashed and it needs to be shut down. I tried Restoring to a week ago, I noticed that the only thing changed since then was a microsoft update which occurred yesterday, and a few "undo last restore point" messages which is odd because the computer is new and hasn't been restored ever. The restore point was unsuccessful for an unknown reason. Thinking it was hijackware I installed SpyBot. Installation was fine until it needed to update, and kept putting a warning message saying can't connect to server. I can't find any uninstall files for IE, The last update listed in add/remove is from April 14th. Any ideas?

History? Ie, did ie & firefox suddenly stop working? Or was it gradual degredation? What's changed since it worked? Malware (run a scan?)

Try Chrome, opera or safari to see if any better - when installing DON'T import anything from ie or firefox.
