No battery indicator

OS: xp pro/vista ultimate
CPU/Ram: 512mb

hi, the battery indicator on my notebook is not there, it has never been there but if i go into xp it is there. In taskbar and start menu properties the power check box is greyed out and not clickable. also windows mobility centre is not anywhere. how can i fix this?

start> control panel> power options> advanced (tick "always show icon on the task bar"

... you may have to opt for "classic view

umm...there is no advanced in power options.

Shutdown your laptop: remove & reattach the battery, then restart your machine & check the power check box to see if it is still grayed out or clickable after that.
