i just installed vista ultimate a few days ago and im finding a few issues that just wont go away.
first of all is my internet connection. i have a zyxel router set up for dynamic ip. it works fine for a few hours, then it just seems to disconnect, when i try repairing the connection through ipconfig, it says the media is disconnected.
i then use settings from my isp and change to a static ip address and, again it works fine for a few hours, then disconnects as before!!
sometimes it takes hours before i can get it up and running again.
i have xp pro on another hard drive, and dont get any connection problems when i boot with xp.
second is vista aero.
my graphics meet the minimum requirement to run aero, and the rest of my spec can more than handle it, but i just cant get it to start.
in the desktop themes setting, all i see are, windows classic, windows standard, and 6 or 7 windows basic themes which all look the same.
i tried various hacks to enable aero, but none of them work, all they do is revert my desktop to the classic them.
lastly, i am set up as an administrator, but when i try to access certain files or folders, i get an error message saying i dont have the rights to. when i try to edit the permissions it wont let me save them, ive even enabled administrator logon and tried doing it from there, but the same thing happens.
any help would be gteatly appreciated
