Hi,
I'm new to vista, a little dissappointed, its very slow lol. I changed a lot of settings, eg turned off the annoying security settings etc. I saw this vista rating which looks cool and I have a rating of 5.6 The only things that I wasnt given a 5.9 for wwere, my RAM, (yet its 4gb 800mz) and my primary hard disk, these both got a rating of 5.6. (i have a sata raptor drive)
Just wondering, on my system spec, is it natural for vista to still be laggy etc? Even after a fresh install. Im considering either making an edited performance edition see how that goes, or go back to xp SP3 performance edition lol.

You a a fantastic computer for running Vista, but it may be slow still. Microsoft determined that bugs in Vista are still causing it to be slow. Thats probably your problem. This is just my opinon, but I think people should stay away from Vista until MS gets more bugs out, especially performance bugs.
Have you installed Service Pack 1 yet?
Hope this helps,
-Trent

Vista is not for everyone.
There are tons of folks predisposed to not liking it & if you are one of those, you may want to stick with XP. You get your level of comfort & you also save yourself the likely dissatisfaction.

Have you checked the indexing and disableing it? I have done this to all my clients/friends and they are happy with Vista, let me know how I can help you, take care.

I've never heard of performance edition. Is it optimized for lower CPU/RAM usage?

Yeah it is pretty much, its an edited version that someone made. Normal vista ultimate wont work well for me but this 1 does. Has a lot of the crap taken out to make it perform better, tweaks all ready done etc. Works quite good
