Also i have Vista at this point. I called Dell. They told be there is an option on Microsoft website to download XP and get rid of Vista. Doese anyone know the link? I have looked on M$ website and all i see is Vista this and Vista that.

Thanks

that's news to me. you should call dell again and ask explicitly for the url ... and please do us a favour and post it here, tnx.

personally, i don't think this is true, since Microsoft does not offer free software support for oem versions, this is all down to the manufacturer (Dell in your case).

"Retail Vista comes with 90 days of free support. OEM edition users don't get that, but paid support is still an option, should you need it."

Well i went to the dell chat and they said its not true. Maybe that lady was crazy that said that. I think Dell should give there customers a choice on XP or Vista. This is more than likely Microsoft makeing Dell force Vista on people. I am going to get a Laptop soon. And one way or another i will get XP. More than likely an OEM version. I saw on a website i think it was mwave an oem version of XP. They said it had to be bought with hardware or i have to show proof of purchase of hardware. Can i show them my dell invoice when i get the laptop? Im still working with Dell on letting me get a laptop with XP. Maybe they will. And im tyring my best to be nice about this. I Just do not want vista yet. Maybe when there is a sp1 or sp2 but not now. Maybe someone can suggest something an option or a way for dell to let bme get a laptop with XP. Im talking about XP Professional.

dell ireland is still selling xp if the customer is asking for it ... even the latest models, so it's not some stock clearance.

hint: dell n series desktops and notebooks are shipped with freeDOS for opensource customers.
