i am wandering why my laptop cannot goes online. when i am using network, the pc is able to go online but when connected directly to the internet, it fails to go online. May I know how to solve this?

and how to share files on a network? i just plug the rj45 cable into the slot and connect to the cable router, and i am able to go online. But how to link up both the computer? there seem no network wizard to assist me!
