need directions to rename Vista user account

Specs: Windows vista
i'm using vista OS in C drive there is users folder in which my name is appear, i want to rename it but when i right click on it the rename option doesn't appear. i already renamed my account from control panel-user account.

First, restart your PC to see if it has changed after the renaming you already did.

If it didn't change, then try to rename it from C:\Users\{your user name}

If it still does not work, create a new account with admin privileges for the name you want and then switch to this new account.

Delete your previous account.

Doing the above may be easier if you temporarily disable UAC. Please note disabling UAC requires a restart of the PC.

Or better, wait for a better answer from other members of this elegant forum.

You cannot rename the users folder
Yes you can rename your name that appears on the the user account or login, but not in Explorer

You must create a new account and name it what you want (as stated above)
But I wouldn't delete the old account until you confirm all programs and settings are working properly

yes i renamed my user account name, restarted my comp. and again when i came to c/:users it shows my previous account name. Actually i want to rename or hide this account so that no one can see my name here

Then you need to create a new user account with a different name

As stated above the explorer username does not change when you change your name (silly I know, but helps with logs and registry entries, and program installs etc)
