need a wireless router for vista

I have road runner and was just advised that I cannot get a wireless router through them yet, it isn't compatable with vista.
What would be a good reasonable inexpensive router to get thats certified for vista?
My second question is My laptop is brand new is their anything else I need to have besides the router for the wireless Connection?

I have been using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and it works fine with Vista. I didn't have to update any software from when I was using it with XP. Your laptop probably has a wireless card-you would just have to configure the wireless settings.

whoever advised you is wrong. Call Time Warner Road Runner again and demand to speak with someone who know the business better.

To use vista all you need is a router with 128bit encryption and set it up that way. Vista will not work with 64 bit encryption. Most wireless routers now a day has both 64 and 128 and the book can explain how to set them up.
