my PC wont boot on only 2 sec

Specs: Window Vista Ultimate 64bit
Hey. i make a custom computer for gaming and i have
been using my pc for two weeks now, and out of no where
i try to plug my headphone on the case jack, and didnt
want to work so i put that headphone cord on the other
hole to try if is work and out of no where the monitor
when off and the pc wont turn off by clicking on the
power button, so i decide to hold the power for 10sec and
nothing happen so i press the button from the power
supply and turn it off, i try to turn it back on and start and
then got off... but i can see the motherboard is on the
lights are on but wont power the system, i need some
help here im runing a quadcore extreme 9650, corsair
ddr3 1600mhz 4GB, window vista ultimate 64bit, evga
gtx295, 1200 watts thermaltake power supply.

sorry for my english i know is not that good. im not
running water cooling on the system cuz the pump is
broken but im using a regular fan for the cpu.

Are you using on board sound? If yes, are the cables to the front sockets connected to the correct points on the motherboard? It sounds like they are not because connecting the headphones to an audio input socket would (or should) not have caused this problem. It sounds like there is damage to the motherboard. If it is in the warranty period you will have to claim under the warranty.
If you are using a separate sound card, take it out and try starting the computer.
