Computer problem for my friend: Computer running, screen is on, text is showing "no signal input"

Today I tried to help a friend with some computer problems(screen/graphic-card problems to a start I thought or even RAM) but after serious tests I was lost, in solving the problem.

Lucky me(to a start) it was his secondary and old computer, so he said if any parts could be used in his "new" computer I should put that in and throw the rest out.

My friend is now sitting with two non working computers since I placed the sata-harddrives from the old computer in the "new" computer and connected them properly.
The "new" computer keeps restarting after Blue Screen of Death, how do I fix this?

The "new" computer and one of the harddrives runs Microsoft Vista.

1) What does the BSOD say?
2) Why are you booting off of the old PC's HDD, instead of the new's properly configured HDD?
