Multimedia Video Controller problem !

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi there all--

New member here, I have a computer here, its a Gateway FX7020, and I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT video card. When I log onto one of the accounts on the machine, there is a stupid pop-up box that says the following, quote:

Windows needs to install driver software for you Multimedia Video Controller.

Then there are 3 choices, Locate and install the driver software, Ask me again later, and Don't show me this message again.

I clicked on the install driver software button, it wanted a CD that came supposedly with my computer, but there was no such CD !

Says to insert the CD that came with my Multimedia Video Controller, but not such CD came ! I had the computer check internally for a solution, but to no avail.

I even went online and found the drivers, and reinstalled them for my video card, but I have had no success at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks !

Very strange - device drivers should only need to be installed
once, then they should work on all user accounts.

However, Windows being what it is, did you install the driver
using the account that displayed the message?

Yes I did. That did not solve the problem at all, only annoyed me more !

I went and checked all the other accounts on this machine, and the message showed up on all of them, Administrators too.

I'm lost, God help me if I have to re-install Vista, there goes all my stuff ! Anything but that ! LOL.

Thanks for the reply !
