Of course I know better not to buy OEM PC. From M$ e-mail today:

Don't wait to buy a new PC

Buy a Windows XP-based PC that qualifies for an Express Upgrade to Windows Vista. Go HERE to buy it from our participating computer manufacturers or
your local PC builders.

Microsoft must see something in your DNA - having unsuccessfully tried to woo you to Waldorf. I'm afraid, the next attempt is going to be nothing short of a surgically planned ambush....... the tip didn't come from me.

BTW below was in my inbox today.

"Please Activate Your Windows Live OneCare Beta (v1.5) Today!

Dear Windows OneCare Beta Tester,

Thank you for being a part of the Windows OneCare Live Beta (v1.5). You've been selected to be a part of our Activation experience testing group, this is an invite-only group so please do not forward this email. At your earliest convenience please activate Windows Live OneCare Beta (v1.5) using the instructions below.

If you're not yet using Windows Live OneCare then please visit ideas.live.com for more information.

Activation Instructions

1. Open Windows Live OneCare Beta (v1.5) by right-clicking the Windows Live OneCare icon, bottom right corner of your screen, and selecting Open Windows Live OneCare.

2. Once the Windows Live OneCare client opens, click the Activate button.

3. Follow the Activation steps and enter information as requested.

4. When prompted for a Prepaid Pin, use the 25 character PIN below:

blah...blah...blah

5. Follow the final Activation steps - Windows Live OneCare Beta (v1.5) is now activated!

6. Click this http://connect.microsoft.com/Survey... and complete the very short Activation Survey. We're counting on you so please take the short survey - it's your feedback that improves Windows Live OneCare!

(If you difficulty accessing the survey, please sign-out of Passport and try again.)

Please note, the token included here is for beta purposes only, it cannot be used for subscription service and will expire at the conclusion of the v1.5 beta.

If for any reason you were unable to complete Activation, please send an email to ocbeta@microsoft.com.

Thank you for being a part of the Windows Live OneCare Beta!

Windows Live OneCare Beta Team defective"

LOL I think I oughta listen seriously to Jim Allchin and buy a MAC (he really meant it but had to do some damage-control recently) :-)

Only gulible people follow that pc garbage to get a free Vista.

I replied to the same e-mail that XPUser got when they sent me that e-mail and I said...

"Lets just save both of us the hassel of me going out to buy a pc and calling MS 1800 number in which MS pays for to activate my coupon code and just give me Vista for free by e-mail. That way we can both avoid this hassel."
