Without checking back into Vista Upgrade Advisor, I wouldn't bet a lot of money BUT I believe that MSN was one of the programs that was flagged as not working with full functionality under Vista.

You might want to check but I'm pretty certain I'm right.

use Miranda IM or GAIM, both free and working like a charme in Vista. Not Only do they cover MSN but also AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! and Jabber/Google Talk and IRC.

http://www.miranda-im.org/

http://gaim.sourceforge.net/win32/i...

so you'll have support for 6 Instant Messaging protocols in one single client.

yes, all your contacts will be imported from the MSN server.

your contacts are not stored locally on your computer!

Miranda IM doesn't even require an installation (if you download the ZIP archive). run the executive, cancel the several first time login questions for those prtotcols you don't want to use, then go to Preferences > Plugins and disable the unwanted protocols. ... you can always go back to MSN if you so wish (and MS has solved the issues)/
