Mouse & keyboard won't work on Vista login

February 19, 2010 at 13:36:39
Specs: Windows XP
My Dell desktop has Vista installed on it, recently i have turned it on, it loads without fault, however when the login screen comes on, neither the mouse nor the keyboard work. I've also tried with my graphics tablet, but the light doesn't come on to say that it's been registered/given power.
i stupidly haven't backed up any work on there and i really need to be able to log in, can anyone help?

Make sure the mouse and keyboard are plugged in. If they are,
try plugging them into different ports. You may have a broken
usb interface card, but if you do, you can probably find them
online for cheap. Another option would be to purchase a new
computer and use the hard drive from the current computer as
storage in the new one, that way you wouldn't lose you files. If
you have extra PS/2 mice and keyboards, I would try to use
