Hey, I'm having an issue with my computer. Maybe you can help me out. It seems like some kind of bug got into my computer and now my monitor settings are off. I have a widescreen monitor that should be set to 1400x900, 60hz, but that isn't one of the options on the display settings. What can I do??? I got a strange message saying something about allowing a program to run for nvidia right before the whole debacle started. As soon as I clicked "allow" the display changed to oversized everything. I couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I figured I'd just adjust the resolution setting back to match the monitor, but the preset settings don't match what my monitor is telling me to set it to (1400x900 60hz), so it looks stretched horizontally.

Follow up that might help: "earlier today I took some pictures. I wanted to put them on my computer, but when I went to search for the F drive it wasn't there. It only showed my my C and D drives. I had no other way to fix the situation so I rebooted the computer. When the computer rebooted it asked me if I wanted to 'cancel' or 'allow' the installation of something pertaining to nvidia. It recommend that I allow it. I've gotten that popup before but I've blocked it. This time, for whatever reason, I figured I'd finally allow it. And sure enough, it screwed things up."

Your problem is that the video driver for the card is not installed correctly. The message you are seeing is the system telling you that the video card is not configured. As a result the available resolutions does not include the ones for the card. You would need to boot the system and reinstall the drivers. Hopefully you can get to the desktop and run the CD for the card. If you do not have a CD then you need to verify the model of the card and download the driver from the card manufacturer or nVidia.
