graphics card is dvi (2 connections)
monitor is vga and hd tv is vgai have an adapter for the monitor (dvi to vga) and was thinking of getting the same for the tv
as i already have a 5metre vga to vga that i used to use with the tv on my old graphics cardWOULD I BE BETTER GETTING ANOTHER CABLE DVI TO VGA OR WILL AN ADAPTER BE THE SAME

If I understand correctly you are asking if a DVI to VGA cable is of the same quality as a DVI to VGA converter and a VGA to VGA cable. If so, yes. here shouldn't be any noticable drop in quality.
