One of the reasons I took vista off my play computer is that I couldn't get one if my nics to work. Since I dual boot with a few os's I didn't want to change other stuff and move cat5 every boot. The problem was with a netgear fa3xx. While almost every other os likes it vista would not load my xp drivers for that. It would load xp's driver for the netgear ga copper gig. (neither supported from dvd)
Like I said I didn't have time to play with it. What would prevent vista from using that inf file? Why would on xp driver load and not another. Complains about inf file. Guess I could have written down the exact issue too. ??

If there is an exclusive requirement in the OS (Vista) coding for the drivers to function, the above is bound to happen & you may not have much, if any alternative. I was in a similar situation with my Audigy sound card and only got it working in Vista Beta2 with the help of the URL below.
