I have installed Vista and everything is ok apart from the computer shows 54gb free of 76gb and yet when i selec all directories there is only 13gb used on the computer?
Any ideas where the space has gone?

System restore & system backup are the likely suspects - you can free up disk space by turning both or at least one of them off and adjust the other. Unfortunately, Vista does not avail the much easier opportunity to dial down the space allocated to system restore as you normally would in XP but you can still do it albeit in another way.
