How does one find "Microphone Boost" in Vista? Or doesn't it exist in that OS?

right click the white speaker/volume icon at the bottom right in the tray. click 'recording devices.' click on the 'recording' tab, then 'FrontMic' (or whichever icon has a green check), then 'properties.' Click on the 'levels' tab, and you should see the microphone boost slider.
