Are you referring to the barrel plug that goes into the actual laptop (looks like this:

If so, how hot does it get? If it is too hot to touch, there is definitely a problem. There is either a short in the plug, or in the jack of your laptop. Use a flash light and visually inspect both to make sure there is no loose debris in/on either. If you don't see anything, you should send it back for repair or take it too a reputable local service place. Sounds like a fire hazard to me.
