Basically my brother imported a virus from a website 2 weeks ago. After i purchased ''norton 2008 internet security''. I scanned the system and i detected a malware virus deleting it.

Now for some reason the internet speed is slow, i can't open any online games, many error bars come saying stuff like ''host processor could not....''.

For example i try to open runescape and it doesn't even load up, could this be because of the processor, or an internet problem?

It would be great if someone provides me with information and steps to solve this issue.

When ever i disk defragment the computer it takes more than 14 hours!

I uninstalled norton internet security 2008 with the norton tool bar but it's still the same outcome.

Thank you

one thing, there is not near enough ram installed to so much in vista. it takes 1 gig just to run vista, and another gig to perform tasks.
my vista computers did not perform well at all, til the upgrade to 2 gig ram.

I never have any luck after a virus. Consider a clean install.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Norton may be blocking the ports for the internet games so you cannot load the games. Try opening gates/ports for your games. How to open gates for games should be in the documentation for Norton.

Other than that, Norton itself may be consuming all your RAM resources. Try adding more RAM as suggested.

Turning off some Windows services may also help.

Right-click Taskbar and click Task Manager. Click Performance tab and you will see how much RAM is in use.

OS stands for the initials of Operating System, Windows Vista in this case.

Thank you sir Suatcini for a good advice.

How do you re start the OS?

Thanks

It says CPU usage: 100%

Memory: 331MB

Is that bad?

CPU usage of 100% is bad if it is constant. If it is momentary or brief, that is normal.

RAM usage is low, meaning your PC may have lots of file swapping, which may also count for the high CPU utilization percentage.

First look at the processes tab and see what process is using the most CPU percentage. Then do a search thru the internet for that process name.

As to the restart of the OS, go to the Start menu, click the arrow pointing to the right and click Restart on the menu that opens.

Hope the above helps.
