Magnet froze my laptop and black screen

August 31, 2011 at 11:08:15
Specs: Windows Vista
Recently, my brother used a small powerful magnetic ball to try to shutdown my laptop by rolling the magnetic ball on the surface of the laptop. The computer froze and shut down itself. I found out later after turning on the computer when the screen was black. After turning on the laptop (Toshiba/Vista) the computer gices me an option of starting my windows normally or with fixing repairs. (I have tried both option to no avail). After clicking on one of them, the windows loads files like normally, but then the screen turns black with only the cursor to be seen. If someone could please help me with this problem. I have searched google telling me to use a magnet to repel any forces and return it to normality.

I thought I had heard it all. This is a new one on me. Quite Ouija of him.

Number one keep your brother away from this in the future.

Two, see if it boots to safe mode.

If you can't boot to safe mode then boot to a Vista DVD and try the repair feature.

Right now I suspect it is software but it would be hardware but work on software repair first.
