low memory bogging down computer..?

April 18, 2012 at 18:51:44
Specs: Windows Vista, pentium dual core t4300@2.1ghz and 3.072mbram
I have seemingly done everything to help the problem; from cleaning up the disk, removing as many unnecessary files as I think is good, de-fragmenting and everything else that I know how to do. Maybe it is just time to either get more ram or get a new computer. Is there anything that i can be missing?

Windows OS has had the same issue since Windows 1.1. They locked stuff to a thing called registry. That and some other issues tend to slow your OS down over time. While it could be malware or spyware and tends to be so if you are not running a full security suite. The solution I use is to reload the entire OS from OEM media. Apply a security suite and apply updates.

If that should fail for some reason then you may need to look to memory bad or not reporting or in some cases hard drive failing or even some bios setting.

Text, talk, drive...CRASH.

Hang up and drive @#$%^^

You don't have low physical memory with 3gig of ram.

You should review what programs are loading upon bootup. I suspect you have too many. Use msconfig to uncheck these upon bootup and see if that makes a difference. Then decide what you don't need and uninstall the apps.
