Comment:

Does anyone know of a PCI-Express 1394b FireWire Card that actually performs at FireWire 800 speeds? The ones I've found on NewEgg, all run at Firewire 400 speeds. All these cards use Texas Instruments chips. I read online that the TI chipset is the problem due to its PC-Express 1394b bridge.
Here's a link to NewEgg product list

Under Tec Specs, it mentions ~20MB/sec write
I'm looking for ~30MB/sec write
My PCI card can do this but I'm looking for a PCI-Express card.

Yeah but the tech spec doesn't mention their write speed. Most likely it's 20 MB/sec since they all use Texas Instruments chips. I'm looking for 30 MB/sec write speed.

Good luck with the search ;-)

If you are looking to get something right at this time, you may end up with a PCI vs a PCI-e (1394b) card if you are not impressed with the disclosed write speed on the PCI-e FireWire 800 cards.

I've found two that'll do it.
