I've loaded Lernout & Hauspie , but can't find it anywhere on the PC.

I didn't have this problem before using XP.

Can anyone let me know where I can find this software so I can use
it...

Thanks!

Windows tells you where it's putting it during the install. If it's not listed in all programs when you click start, it may not have been installed. Have you tried to search for it using start, search?

What exactly is this program? Didn't Nuance acquired Lernout & Hauspie 5 years ago and merged L&H technology patents in with their Dragon Naturally Speaking software? If the L&H you installed is a speech program, check out Vista Control Panel.

I cannot find out how to use this.

Can anyone let me know how this is done. In Xp there was a simple control panel, but I cannot find this.

I have found text to speech in the CP, but there is no indication of how to use it.

thanks

Try Google using the exact title of whatever you have installed. If no luck post the title here and one of us may be able to find something for you using boolean search techniques.

EDIT: How did you installed it? If from a disc, explore the media for help files.

HI

The title of the file is
tv_enua

Its part of Microsoft, I think they bought it.

I've downloaded it, installed it, can find it in Control Panel, but cannot work out how to get the damn thing working.

It was downloaded from a microsoft site.

Thanks!

No listing of the filename tv_enua at all of M$ sites. The name you gave us is nondescriptive amd not really a product name per se. Further, any reference to L&H gets redirected to nuance.com site. Sorry I couldn't be of further help.

Hi,
It looks like it was installed in a hidden folder.
Go into control panel then folder options then view and put a tick in show hidden files and folders,
Then go to c:\users\xxxxx\appdata\local\microsoft and it should be there.
The xxxxx folder should be your login name.

Or you could try reinstalling it and when it brings up the folder to install box check in that folder

See this: It seems to shed some light on your issue.

"Note: Even after Installing all the components from this page you will not see any entries in your start menu, This is because MS Agent is a technology (SDK) and not a standard windows application that you can run by double-clicking.

Think of MS Agent as a car which can not start itself, for starting & running you will need its key & a driver. The same case applies to MS Agent you will need some HTML Documents, Office documents or a windows application specifically programmed to utilize the MS Agent Technology. Applications & documents will be its key & windows will be its driver. Now ready for a long drive."

Thanks for the tip.

I've downloaded the L&H Text TO Speach Voice Engine, the Microsoft software and the voices. But can't find any way to use these.

I can't find any of it in Control Panel or Programs.

Any suggestions on what software to use to control the MS Agent?

Thanks

Run msconfig and go to startup. Is the software listed there?

Open a command prompt, run cd \ press enter.

Then run attrib -h *.* press enter.

That's in case it's hidden.

I would look for another speech program. Some blind people I know on IRC use Jaws.

I think I worked it out.

In Vista, text to speech can be accessed from Ease of Use, Narrator.

It doesn't read from Word but will from Notepad.

I'm trying to work it out.

It was so easy and simple in XP.. not a great design success for Bill and Vista.

I'll try those out though

Cheers

I have working with Microsoft Agent for a few years. I have a fairly complete Agent Website that uses Merlin as a host. Maybe I can be of some help.

The comments about L&H demise are true unfortunately. The voices still work in Vista, so far. They can override the default Microsoft Narrator voices, which find are crude in quality by comparison.

There is a very nice Free tool called Deskbot that reads pages, announces the time, reads the clipboard, etc. It is available at www.bellcraft.com

If you wish to make your own scripts to executed in Windows, or on the Net, or even in PowerPoint, download the MASH Editor, also free.

I am visually impaired, so I investigated this years ago.

Cheers, dpminusa.
