I would like to connect my PC to my flat panel and be able to utilize the internet on my TV. Ditching sat. TV and will be using NetFlix a little more as well as network websites. Also, the PC is running Vista.

You'll need a video card with TV out - HDMI, or whatever input on the TV you want to connect to. That'll handle the physical connection. Beyond that, depending on what version of Vista you have, Media Center is a good solution for displaying media content. It can even play Netflix.

You might also like a remote to control the computer / Media Center, so you can use the computer more like a set-top box.

I have Vista Home Premium on the PC and it seems I read that this version bundled the media center in it.

Ok great! Now all you need is that TV-out card and a remote.

Do you also want to send sound to the TV speakers ?

Then you will need a cable with one end 3.5 mm jack and the other, two RCA connectors.

If the graphics card with HDMI supports audio codecs as well, that is fine. Otherwise, he needs a separate cable to convey sound from soundcard to TV. He has to check. This is what I meant.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I don't have a wireless router yet, but wanted to do the hookup just to see if it would work. I used an extra VGA cable I had and I can see the computer screen on my TV. NOW the problem is the DSL isn't working and the PC isn't recognizing the install CD in the drive. I really would prefer not to involve the carrier since they will want to charge me more money for and "additional hookup"...any thoughts?
