Comment:

My laptop reboots itself randomly. These are the following errors I get:

"dcom server process launcher service terminated unexpectedly"
OR
"plug and play service terminated unexpectedly"

And then I get a countdown timer and the system reboots. I have run anitvirus, Spybot, Spyware Terminator, HiJack This, there's no reason to believe its a trojan/worm/virus.

Help please :)

No new hardware or usb/firewire devices installed.

Event viewer tells me that service control manager.exe is to blame. I can't do anything with that either ...

Restore has been disabled. I hate that feature for some reason, and no I don't wish I had left it on even now. :)

Still trying to figure this one out ...

...google'd info (xp) from recovery console:

... To see the current status of all Services and drivers installed on your system, type LISTSVC. You’ll see the Service or driver name, its status (Auto, Boot, System, Manual or Disabled) and possibly a brief description
... To disable a suspect item just type DISABLE [NAME], where [NAME] is the name of the Service or driver listed.
... To re-enable a device from the Recovery Console, use the ENABLE command in the same way as DISABLE - type ENABLE /?

... sure Vista wo'nt be too different(?)
