A few weeks ago my laptop was telling me that I needed to buy a new battery, as the life of my current one was running out. I've had my laptop for about 18 months so far. So I looked on Dell's website and found out that a new battery for my laptop was like £100, so I thought it'd be OK to search for one elsewhere. I found a compatible battery for about £45.
I only tried the new battery about a week ago, and I did what it told me to do; charge it up fully, and then drain it fully lots of times. When I tried to "drain" it by using it, this is when my problems started.
I would log on and then a couple of minutes later it would completely freeze, and then I would have to hold the power button down until it turned off.
I thought I could use my old battery for a while longer, as I thought it had a little more life left in it.
Now the same problem is happening; it freezes after I log on.I can only use my laptop on Safe Mode now [on either battery] which is really annoying as I can't do much. I have done a couple of system restores, which didn't really help.
I do have McAfee, and it keeps telling me that "My computer is not protected"; when I go to 'Fix' it, it tells me it can't because of a few errors.Does anybody know how I can fix my laptop?
