It's either faulty RAM or a faulty hard drive. I can't be more helpful than that because all the references I've looked at for beep-codes on a Dell laptop do not have any reference to a long beep.

The beep-codes on a Dell laptop are all listed as a combination of beeps (long beeps & short beeps in various combinations). can't find anything for just a long beep so I'm making an educated guess you need to replace the RAM or the hard drive.

But one thing I am sure of, it's definitley faulty hardware when you get anything other than one short beep. (one short beep means all hardware is OK).
