Keyboard & mouse don't work with Vista Instal

February 4, 2010 at 18:23:46
Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium

There is a problem with Windows,it doesn't start and I get a blue screen error.I want to repair it with Windows Vista dvd,or maybe reinstall Windows. The problem is,when I boot from Vista dvd, mouse and keyboard don't responding.I have tried it with usb keyboard and mouse, but they didn't work, have tried with ps/2 keyboard and usb mouse with ps/2 adapter, but again neither of them worked.I was able to use them when I booted from Vista dvd before, but sometimes having the same problem. But sometimes after 2 trying, sometimes after 10 trying I was being able to use the mouse and keyboard when booted from Vista dvd.If Vista start screen(while booting from dvd) passed slowly,I was able to use the mouse and the keyboard. But when it passed fast, they were not working. And now,it is passing quickly and unfortunately mouse and keyboard doesn't responidng.I have tried booting from Vista dvdmore than 30 times, but no they are not responding.

About the Vista not booting from hard-drive problem,it started when I did an error while installing new graphics card drivers months ago.At first Vista gave me a blue screen everytime I try to boot Vista, even when I tried repairing it with Vista dvd. Then I did a few things, and the problem reduced to rarely-sometimes giving a blue screen..All the options(including safe mode) in boot menu of Windows(from harddisk) don't work, they all respond with a blue screen error. So I think I should reinstall Windows to solve the problem completely, but unfortunately like I said when I boot from Windows Vista dvd mouse and keyboard don't respond.

A few days ago I bought Windows 7.Guess what happened?Keyboard and mouse didn't work again. Then I unplug the pc headphone from an usb port and this time keyboard and mouse worked. Then I installed Windows 7 and got very happy.Everything was working fine, until a few minutes ago.Windows 7 gave a blue-screen with the same message which was displayed with Windows Vista.I tried to boot into Windows 7 Repair, again keyboard and mouse didn't work.Tried with Windows 7 dvd, they didn't work again.I looked at my pc headphone,it was unplugged.I unplugged all the unnecessary devices from their ports, tried again, keyboard and mouse didn't work again. From bios I disabled usb and lan, problem continued.

While it is trying to boot with Windows 7 dvd,i feel like it doesn't load the necessary components, because the menu screen opens very quickly,if it opens slowly keyboard and mouse work.

What maybe the problem and how can I solve this problem(mouse and keyboard not responding problem)?

it sounds like you may have to add the keyboard and mouse as a new device. you can do this by going into control panel.click on hardware and sound take from there, or you can try shutting down your computer unplug the keyboard and mouse switch your computer back on then plug in kb then your mouse see if that helps , try downgrading windows 7 and updating windows vista, you may have gone wrong somewhere on th up grade to windows 7.

Thanks for your answer.

I can't do these because Windows Vista doesn't start from harddisc,it gives bsod.I can only boot with Vista dvd but when I do mouse and keyboard don't work.

I didn't upgrade Vista to Windows 7,I did a clean install on another harddrive(different harddrive from hdd which has Vista). Also I had the same problem before installing Windows 7.
