Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone has run into this already and can tell me what to do, because I've tried nearly everything.

The problem is simple. My mouse and keyboard, though sometimes only the mouse, freeze up for 5 to 50 seconds or so, for no reason whatsoever. Eventually both freeze for good and i have to restart without being able to save anything.

I have tried different ports (USBs) for M and K, I use them on ps2 ports because they seem to freeze a little less there. The hardware is fine and the drivers are fine. This started happening after a quick restart I did earlier, and now I can't do anything with my puter. The machine is brand new (undera week outta the store). Thanks for help, in advance!

A likely possibilty is the RAM or the power supply. You could run memtest to test the RAM. I recently had that problem and replaced my Ultra power supply with an Antec(same watts). I haven't had the problem since.

I tried the ram check, but it is a temporary computer so i cant go messing around with the power supply, regrettably. I installed a new graphics card, maybe I should remove it and try again? Going to do that now.

Uninstalled and removed graphics card. Still same problem, even though clearly I can't "pull" as much from the system without the graphics card and the games. Though now it doesn't permanently freeze, I can't do anything comfortably as 1/3 of the time, the mouse and keyboard are still not responding. I hear a loud BEEP from the machine sometimes when the control comes back - just thought I'd mention that.

I'm sure that this will probably be unrelated but when I first got my new machine (with vista home premium) i had all sorts of problems with stuff hanging and freezing and even boot up problems. I found out that Roxio cd burning software (my machine was shipped with it) had known issues with vista. I uninstalled it and all the problems stopped immediately. Do you have Roxio software installed?
