Comment: I've been having a strange problem the last few weeks. There are some files on my desktop that I can't seem to throw away. When I drop them in the recycle bin, the computer just sits there calculating until I cancel. They're just jpegs. And sometimes my icons will disappear (the text is still there, but the image is gone), and will come back if I restart Explorer. I have virus protection running, and it hasn't found anything unusual. Any ideas?

Reply: (edit)This issue has been a growing concern for many Vista users. Fortunately, there are couple of workarounds. 0. You can contact M$ directly for a resolution but note that a fee of US$59 support charge may apply although it would be cancelled if the your prescribed patch is deemed necessary by M$' rep. 1. The other option is to go here & all scroll the way down to Windows6.0-KB931770-x86.msu or Windows6.0-KB931770-x64.msu if you are running Vista 64bit, then download & install that hotfix & hopefully that should give you a relief.
