I dual-boot Vista and XP on my laptop.
Under Vista, whenever I switch WMP to full-screen mode, my LCD's brightness automatically switches to 100% (I normally have it set to 60%, which is more than bright enough). I don't want it to switch to 100% whenever I play videos in fullscreen. I looked everywhere in the laptop's power management software for a setting that would relate to this, but couldn't find one.So now I'm thinking that this is a feature of Vista. Under XP, watching a video in full screen doesn't cause the monitor to increase its brightness (I use the same power management software under XP).
Is this Vista's fault like I think it is, and if so, how can I stop it? Thank you.

How about looking in Vista Power Management policy settings? Windows Vista is known to automatically change the brightness of the panel depending on the power policy settings.

I clicked on the little battery icon in the notification area (I'm new to portable PCs; I'm assuming that this is Vista's only power management panel).
I couldn't find any video playback/LCD brightness options in the advanced options.
