Hello,
Ever since I did a clean install of Vista Home Premium, wiping my WinXP media center edition installation, there has been a 5 minute lag at the start of booting.
I have an intel D955XBK motherboard that has on-board intel matrix RAID. I have 3 WD 320GB SATA 3GB/s drives in RAID 5. Upon reboot it goes through BIOS normally and the RAID status screen normally (all is ok with my RAID, apparently).
Then, when Windows is supposed to boot, my computer does nothing. No hard drive activity, no CPU fan spin up. It just sits there for 5 minutes and does nothing. Only then does the yellow bar start up (the one with (c) Miscrosoft underneath), and Vista loads. It only takes about 45 seconds for Vista to load from this point.
I've searched for this problem elsewhere and can't find it described - does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can fix it?
All the best,
S
