Hello,

I recently installed vista on my laptop but however I cannot use internet. First I was not able to install drivers for my CDMA based phone which has a modem. It's a ZTE WP960 phone with CDMA 1x 2000 modem. It works perfectly alright in Windows XP.

I had to make a few changes in the driver to include a line in the driver file. which is:

include=mdmcpq.inf

under [Modem1.NT], [Modem1.NT.Services], and [Modem1.NT.HW], so that it can include "usbser.sys" which the driver demands. It got installed, I got connected to the ISP. BUT!!!!

1) It keeps transferring data no matter whether I am requesting something from internet explorer or any other program or not.

2) I cannot ping, I cannot open any website in internet explorer. Although the data keeps transferring forever.

What could be wrong? I simply cannot understand it. I don't think it's due to the driver, but anyone knows how to fix it? How to make drivers compatible with Vista?

I am currently using dual boot and xp works without an issue.

Maybe it's coz of the new vista networking mechanism in which vista identifies everything as a network? Or it's my modem / drivers?

Thanks for any help.

It's probably the driver. There is a compatibility mode you can use when installing things, so try that (not sure how you're installing your drivers so this may or may not work for you).

If not, then you're probably going to have to wait till Vista drivers come out for your modem...
