aarrrgh, just made my dad get his annoyed mode, basically his norton internet security trial was running out on his pc, so i unistalled it, i replaced it with another norton anti virus program which i downloaded, as he preferrs the internet secuirty, i uninstalled the norton program, so i could go out and get a copy for him, i did a registry scan on ccleaner, so i could get rid of leftover files from unstallation, but i forgot to do a backup, and now i think it's deleted something from the registry because internet explorer fails to work aarrrgh, help me please as i don't think system restore will work, i had the same issue with my old windows 98 computer, which i installed me over to fix.
yo

it just says 'internet explorer cannot display the webpage', i've resetting internet explorer and using system restore, there is nothing wrong with the internet connection as the pc upstairs fine

Thats why Registry Cleaners should not be used unless you know what you are doing. Try firefox and this will let you know if its just Internet Explorer or could be something in your tcp/ip stack. Also after uninstalling norton security this is very common.

i'll try the norton tool to fix it that i've been told to do as no other internet apps work (e.g utorrent, msn)
yo

That should work. if not you will need to reset the winsck file by doing the following :
1. Click on Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
4. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
5. Restart the computer.
