Specs: Windows Vista
Hi,i do not know how Internet explorer 9 got on my laptop,i can only guess that it happened when my grandson was playing on it.
Anyway my inbox for email has changed to compose and not as it used to be.
It used to be inbox with a list of options such as read, marked, etc.,and compose was higher up,but not any longer.
There is a broad vellow band above and in it is some features may not work properly in this version of internet explorer. So how can i return to my original internet explorer 8.

You have 2 choices here:

1) Download a different browser. I recommend Firefox but have also heard good things about Google Chrome.

2) Go to and search for Internet Explorer 8, you'll likely find a download link there.

1 of those 2 options will likely solve both problems you're having.

This is the Win8 forum but you listed your OS as Vista. I believe Win8 comes with IE10 so my guess is you're asking about Vista. Vista originally came with IE7 & supports up to IE9. Both IE7 & IE8 are old & losing support rapidly, so you should be running IE9 and/or an alternate browser such as Firefox. Are you using some sort of web based email? Assuming you're running Vista, do you have SP2 installed?

What email are you using?

Not a good idea to revert back the browser - it risks your security.
There might be other options such as IE Reset:
"Tools > Internet Options > Advanced" - see Reset button.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Echo Riider. I'm using IE8 and occasionally get the annoying message that I need to uprade to a 'modern' browser. Keep IE9 and configure it to your liking.
