I could be online and all of a sudden i lose my connect and it will reconnect. Is it my firewall or windows defender turning it off. My msn messenger keeps signing off on it own also

Might have to look at a lot of places. See any router logs, see any event logs, might have to setup perfmon to see more. Might have to run ipconfig /all at the time it fails . There are other network and xp system tools that might zero you in. You have to start some test somewhere. "Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
