Subject: Internet and other prog freezingOS: VistaCPU/Ram: P2 dual / 1 GBModel/Manufacturer: Inspiron 1720 |
Comment: Hi everyone! I need help. My Dell Inspiron 1720 freezes all the time. If I move to fast on the internet, try to copy too much to word, or play a DVD for too long my system freezes. I have to CTRL, ALT, Del to get it to wake up. This happens sporatically, sometimes all day and then it won't happen the next. I have tried dealing with dell, but have been in the never ending dell hell for the last 3 months. I am fed up with dell and want advice from some one who knows what they are talking about!! I have ran all diag on the system and all pass except the S.M.A.R.T. tests which freeze the system as well and make me force a shut down to get it out. Dell has replaced the thermostat and the DVD drive, but refuse to help me anymore. I am very active on my laptop, and I do burn alot with my DVD drive. I try to keep it cool as much as possible. Someone please help!!!!

Reply: (edit)vista is really slower than Xp about 30%..... Dont run to much programs that use a lot of hdd activity........A messed up hdd can be a big problem... Ur hdd must be having a hard time looking for some system files causing it to freeze... TRY defraging ur hdd using Diskeeper or other programs
