One thing I have noticed is that with Windows Vista, every time there is a pop-up notification from the system, the internal speaker beeps. It's very annoying since I go to libraries and also use it when people are sleeping. Muting the computer doesn't disable this beeping since it's not the main speakers. I know it's windows vista since I have two pcs and both of them do it, yet my older XP pcs did not. Is there a way to turn that off?
Summary: I have the same problem. It's not a Windows sound, so even going to the Control Panel and turning off all sounds for all events doesn't stop the beeps. Even muting all sound with the volume controll...
