Here is the solution to get the HD audio working in Vista for the Alienware DHS-2 or Intel 915POM Motherboard that is found in the Intel Entertainment PC

I tried to reply to another thread but it says it was too old to reply too. It comes up under google search so I thought it would be appropriate to add it.

The reason the Audio is not working is because the dial-up modem is sitting on the HD Audio Bus. This modem is what is stopping the drivers from loading. You can remove the modem with a small screw driver. Open the case and you can see the 56k modem located right next to the Bios battery and near the top of the memory. The modem is covered in plastic and has a sticker on it. Simply unscrew the modem and it should pop off the board.

Now start it back up. Install the Realtek HD drivers from the realtek.com.tw website.

Restart Again

Audio should be working

Enjoy!

have you tried installing an xp driver for the modem??? back when xp first came it is was some times required to use a 98 or me driver to get things to work right...

lol even when they got it rite the still screw it up... not more then 3 days after i baught this laptop they came out with a new driver for my wifi card. It did not cause it to stop functioning but it did cause it to not be able to connect to any access point.
