I purchased a Toshiba satellite L300 laptop with Vista. I'd like to install XP home edition on this. I was wondering if this is possible and how exactly would I do it?
Thing is that I have a Toshiba recovery CD from my other laptop (Satellite A300) which came with XP. So could I use the Recovery DVD from my other laptop (about 3 yrs old) to install XP on my new one?

No the license is not transferrable and is locked in to that computer. Not to mention that the hardware is different and requires different drivers for the new one. So a new XP would be required and a check on the Toshiba site, to make sure all the XP drivers needed for that model are available before proceeding.

Might work, as above you'd have to read the exact wording of the EULA.
Normally you can delete all other copies of the OS and then use. OEM disks are funny in that they check bios or other part for the proper install.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
