install vista from external HDD?

I need to install vista onto my other laptop, it currently has no OS and no CD/DVD ROM drive is there any way i can get the vista installer to load on boot from my external HDD allowing me to install vista any help would be appreciated as this is now doing my head in

If there is no CD/DVDROM on the laptop there's not much reason to install any contemporary OS on it - you can only go so far before you'll critically need an optical drive to complete a simple task.

hi, i don't know if this will work (give it a shot though), try extracting the image into the root of the external hdd so you have all the files, then if your bios supports booting from a usb device, boot from there and hopefully it will boot the install.
