Why does Vista keep greating desktop.ini files on my desktop?

Are you set to show "protected operating system files", if so it will show these and more?

I like to show hidden files and extensions but generally regard showing protected files as a bit of a nuisance - you can always show them when/if you need to.

some other bloke...
