Image specific items to DVD-Rs

I will soon be moving out, and obviously taking my PC with me, but I was thinking about backing up a lot of my machine before doing so. I don't really have a proper backup solution, but I do have many blank DVD-Rs and I was wondering if there was a program out there that would let me image specific files/folders to the blank DVDs (because I don't need to backup *everything* like Windows and programs)
What would be the best option in your opinion for backing them up to the DVD media? Just adding the files "as is", shoving them all in some giant RAR/ZIP archive, or like I said, using some imaging program that will let me do this (Not that I know of one!) compatible with Vista?

Vista has a backup and restore center, which you can use to back up individual files or folders, whether to DVD R discs or an external HD. The latter is easier if you have an external HD.

Yes you're right it does but only if you are running Vista Business, Enterprise or Ultimate editions.
Because Vista Complete PC Backup and Restore is an image based backup, the file size itself can be quite staggered - as big or equal to what you have on the system partition. It is for this reason that I prefer to copy only files & folders dear to me. In the event Vista crashes with no option to do repair, I'd rather clean reinstall the OS and applications. Then I will copy back what I have backup.
