Illegible Product Key

Microsoft Microsoft office home and stud...
August 4, 2009 at 20:58:41
Specs: Windows Vista
The third character in my product key is like a German punctuation or diacritical or whatever mark. It is not something on the keyboard, anyway. It is two dots, where the top of the letter should be. Thinking it did not print, I used every letter that could have two dots at the top if the rest of the character was missing....H, K, M, N, U, V, and X. None worked. Any ideas

If you are referring to MS Office Home & Student 2007,
the 3rd and 4th characters on mine are NUMBERS.

Could also be W or Y? (W in the product key has a low-height central part).

BTW there is no guarantee that ANY particular character will always be a letter or number.

When you are in doubt always give M$ a call for assistance with the product key.
