Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium
Someone told me that if my hard drive crashes on my computer, then the external hard drive that I use for backing up my system every day will crash also.
This doesn't sound right . . can someone help with this?

Thank you !

This would only be true if the two drives were from the same manufacturing lot.

This would mean they would have the same approximate mean time before failure [MTBF] ratings which means they could both fail in the same time period.

One drive "crashing" does not mean the other drive would "crash" or be affected by the other drive.
