IE will not open web pages

When I open my Internet explorer it does not open any web pages at all. I also use Firefox and it doesn't open any web pages either. What could be causing this problem.

Check your DNS settings in the network properties. Make sure it's set to Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Check whether you have connected to Internet successfully, you should be able to ping google.com or yahoo.com if you are connected to internet.

If you are able to ping, you can then use nslookup to try resolving URL/domain name. If it doesn't work, there is problem on DNS servers, you can then configure following DSN servers which are provided by OpenDNS, after that test again.
