when i create a shortcut on my desktop,,,i allways get the internet explorer icon, and not the site icon...running vista home premium...how do i solve this problem?

Try this. I use this when my desktop icons change to the generic ie icons.
My Desktop icons have all changed into generic icons. How can I get the original icons back?
Answer:
You can try resetting the icon cache by making a change to the cache and then changing it back. Here's how:
Right click an empty area of your Desktop
Select Properties
Select the Appearance tab
Choose the Advanced button
In the "Item:" drop down menu, click the entry titled 'Icon'
Using the up or down arrows, change the number displayed
Click OK
Using the above instructions, change the value of step #6 back to its original position.
[Top]If you can't get the Appearance Tab that way do the following" Control Panel\Personalization\Windows Color & Appearance\Advanced\then follow the above procedure.
Take Care
