I am waiting for my new Dell computer to arrive. I was wondering if I can copy some programs off of my old Dell Windows XP computer to an external HD and still be able to run them on my new Dell Windows Vista computer? I have the 20 gig HD that came with my old Dell and a 160 gig HD as a slave drive that I installed myself. Would it be better to transfer the programs off of the master HD onto the slave HD and install it as a slave HD on my new computer/

You cannot transfer programmes from one computer to another, they will need to be re-installed. There are a number of considerations involved and the most important of these is the Registry entries. Also note that you are going to be using two differing systems here.
